Bryan Singer is stepping into some really big shoes.
The filmmaker has signed on to direct “Jack the Giant Killer,” the fantasy adventure from New Line and Legendary Pictures.
Neal Moritz is producing via his Original Film banner along with David Dobkin.
The story, by Mark Bomback ("Live Free or Die Hard") and Darren Lemke ("Gemini Man"), is set in motion when a princess is kidnapped, threatening a long-standing peace between men and giants. A young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing her.
Michele Weiss and Michael Disco are overseeing for the studio while Ori Marmur is overseeing for Original. Jon Jashni and Alex Garcia shepherd for Legendary, which is co-producing and co-financing.
“Killer” continues Singer’s trek out of hibernation (he decided to take breather after "Valkyrie"), becoming the third project the filmmaker has attached himself in the last two months. The other two are a feature version of “Battlestar Galactica,” set up at Universal, and a remake of “Excalibur,” set up at Warners with Legendary also involved.
“Killer” is most likely to be Singer’s next movie. The project has no start date but is being fast-tracked.
Singer is repped by WME.

Excellent News. Bryan will do an amazing job.

“Jack the Giant Killer,” was last seen in the 1962, and has iterations dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Most previous incarnations have been similar to the classic “Jack and the Beanstalk” tale.

So Jack rescues the princess? Wow, that's original, and so exciting! How about the princess rescues Jack? That might be worth watching. The X-Men First Class prequel would probably not be in theaters for several years. Singer has not yet determined his next project--right now it could be Jack the Giantkiller.Expect it to be about a year before Singer has a shooting script for X-Men finalized, so probably two or three years before the film hits theaters--at the very best, summer of 2011, more likely 2012 or even 2013.

singer is a person who sings. Anyone who is singing is a singer. Some people do it as a job (professional singer), others may sing without being paid (amateur singer). Singers may sing anything: songs, opera etc. They may be accompanied by an instrument or an orchestra. Some singers also play a musical instrument such as piano, guitar or harp while they sing (they accompany themselves). Singing is important in movies and in the theatre.

I like this part of the post:"With a recurring role on The Tudors as well, you might say Anwar is getting better parts than she did in her first blush of fame. And that makes the world seem a little more right." is verygood
