The makers of "Seven" are teaming to reincarnate "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud" for Columbia.
David Fincher is attached to direct the new adaptation of the Max Ehrlich novel, which will be penned by Andrew Kevin Walker. Fincher will produce with Michael De Luca.
Fincher and Walker respectively directed and wrote the 1995 thriller "Seven" for New Line when De Luca was its president of production. Alison Rosenzweig, who brought the project to De Luca, also will produce the redo. Daniel Ostroff will also be involved as a producer.
Ehrlich wrote the adaptation of his own book. The novel and film were released in 1975, the latter directed by J. Lee Thompson and starring Michael Sarrazin and Margot Kidder.
"Proud" centers on a college professor who begins having recurring dreams and nightmares and, realizing they are images of a past life, decides to search out the source of the visions. With his girlfriend in tow, he discovers a woman and her grown-up daughter who are keys to his past life.
The supernatural thriller drew heat for a subplot involving incest.
The creative team is going back to the novel as the source material and will contemporize the story.
Columbia president Matt Tolmach, who worked with Fincher on "Panic Room," and the studio's Rachel O'Connor are overseeing.
Fincher is about to begin shooting "The Social Network," which De Luca is producing for Columbia. Walker, repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners, wrote Universal's upcoming horror remake "The Wolfman" with David Self.
"Fincher and Walker respectively wrote and directed"?? Shouldn't it be: Walker and Fincher respectively wrote and directed??? You boys are THR after all?

I hope Kyle Cooper will be attached for the title sequence too. His sequence for Seven was so good. Great start to the film.

Supernatural is a nonsense word. Please stop using it. The definition of the word 'nature' precludes anything outside of it. God or gods, multiple dimensions, ghosts, demons, anything that actually works would have to be natural and be a part of the nature of everything. You can use science fiction or fantasy to describe phenomena that is not known to be real.

Fincher is the man! After watchinig some of the alternate endings for Seven, I was absolutely blown away by how creative and versatile her is.
