Jack Black is once again heading into the land of animation, this time with a Jason Micallef pitch centering on cryptozoology that is being preemptively picked up by Universal-based Illumination Entertainment.
Details of the pitch are being kept under lock and key, though it is known to be set in the world of cryptozoology, which is the study of mythic and legendary creatures such as Bigfoot, the Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster.
Black will produce, though not voice-star at this point, with this Electric Dynamite partner Ben Cooley. Illumination’s Chris Meledandri will also produce.
Black, repped by WME, was the lead voice in DreamWorks Animation’s’ “Kung Fu Panda,” which grossed $215 million domestically. He is reprising his “Panda” character of Po for the sequel, “The Kaboom of Doom,” which is currently in production.
Micallef, repped by WME and Underground Management, wrote the Black List script “Butter,” which is now set up at Mandate with Jennifer Garner attached to star.

Okay. There's more -- this brain don't quit! (though it has occasionally been fired) -- but I think you get my drift. I really believe the Terminator franchise has only begun to plumb the depths of questioning the human condition during awesome stunts, and I'd like to shepherd it through the next phase. The money is there, but more importantly, the heart is there. But more importantly, money. Think about it. End this bloody bidding war before it begins, and put the Terminator in the hands of someone who watched the first one more than any other movie in college, including "Song of Norway" (no current franchise offer).

Yes, the vampire genre is extremely popular nowadays, especially with girls. It is kind of a sad commentary when you think about it. Why would so many girls be so obsessed with a love story that includes a vampire? Perhaps it's because they are starved for true love? Remember Titanic? I expect this genre will pass by. Maybe the next love story genre will be about werewolves? Hmm.
