THR grabbed this one-on-one video with Peter Jackson a couple of weeks ago when he participated in our Directors Roundtable (which also included Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, Lee Daniels, Jason Reitman and Quentin Tarantino).
Jackson talks about the casting process for "The Hobbit" and how author J.R.R. Tolkien and his Middle-earth are the real stars of the movie, not any actor.
(Watch a video excerpt of the roundtable.)

Can’t wait for The Hobbit. Re-reading the book now as it has been a long LONG time since I’ve read it. What a wonderful story. I trust del Tor and Jackson to do right by the story.

Wasn't Guillermo del Toro picked up as director for The Hobbit?

I am happy to finally hear something about it. I was hoping they make Hobbit soon but this is sooner than I thought. Good!
