Anthony Hopkins takes demonic forces in 'The Rite'

Anthony Hopkins is counting his blessings, coming aboard to star in "The Rite," a supernatural thriller from New Line being produced by Contrafilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson.

Mikael Hafstrom is directing.

Adapted from a book by Matt Baglio and based on true events, the story centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces.

Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.

Christy Fletcher is executive producing, and New Line's Richard Brener and Merideth Finn are overseeing. Michael Petroni wrote the screenplay.

UTA-repped Hopkins is making fighting supernatural forces a habit of late. The actor is onscreen hunting a werewolf in "The Wolfman" and shooting Marvel's "Thor," in which he plays Odin, the ruler of Asgard.

The plot sounds to be interesting one. The plot with the supernatural concept has worked most of the times and with Anthony Hopkins included in the starers list, the movie ought to be an outstanding one. Let's hope for the best and play the wait and watch game until its release.

It seems that David Goyer has been overwhelmed by the superheroes. I mean first Batman and now Superman, but I would like to add is that he is best at this and would be interesting to see what twist does he have in his mind for Superman after an interesting one for Batman.
