The long-talked-about “Daredevil” reboot finally made its first step forward Friday, with scribe David Scarpa being tapped to pen a story for the Fox/Regency adaptation of the Marvel hero.
Daredevil, a blind attorney with radar senses and ninja training, made his first big-screen appearance in 2003 in the Mark Steven Johnson-directed movie starring Ben Affleck. The movie didn’t set the fanboy world on fire, though it did gross $102 million domestically and spawned a poorly received spinoff, “Elektra,” starring Jennifer Garner.
After seeing how Marvel resurrected green-skinned hero Hulk only five years after an initial movie, Fox decided to attempt the same with Daredevil. In 2008, Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman said in an interview with IESB that the studio was thinking about a reboot, though he added, “this is the movie business -- nothing is soon.”
Peter Chernin will be one of the producers on the pic.
The plan is to see what kind of script Scarpa comes up with. He wrote “The Day the Earth Stood Still” for Fox as well as the DreamWorks thriller “The Last Castle." If Fox and Regency like what they see, the next step will be to attach a director.

Great review.I really hope Ben Affleck gets the part. I think he'd make a great Daredevil if somebody'd just give him a chance.

You'd think they'd be see how little that film was liked in addition to how it wasn't a success and put it together that this is a *bad idea.* Do not trust your movie franchise with just anyone, especially one whose last major film project was pretty much universally considered not good.I really wish studios would at least hire a comic writer, preferably one who worked on the series in question, to co-write a film. I'm not saying non-comic writers can't write good comic films, but they're already ) at a disadvantage when it comes to knowing the source material.

Daredevil was a great action movie. Loved Ben Affleck and hope he will get to play Daredevil again. I have watched the movie many times and loved all the characters. Just wish someone would make another "Spawn" movie.

After a nearly fatal encounter with the Redeemer, Spawn's costume evolved into a more advanced form. The formerly immaculate shroud became ragged and shredded, and his costume lost its red coloring and became pure black and white.
