Eric Bana is going back to action movie territory.
The actor is in negotiations to star opposite Saoirse Ronan in “Hanna,” Focus’ tale of a teenage assassin being directed by Joe Wright.
Bana will play Ronan’s father in the story of a 14-year-old Eastern European girl saved from a CIA breeding camp and raised by her dad to be a cold-blooded killing machine. After finding peace with a French family, the girl is dragged back to her father’s world, and she must fight her way to a free life.
Leslie Holleran, Marty Adelstein and Scott Nemes are producing.
Seth Lochhead and David Farr worked on the script.
WME-repped Bana last appeared in Judd Apatow’s dramedy “Funny People” and the romancer “The Time Traveler’s Wife.” However, the Aussie made his American movie mark in such films as “The Hulk” and sword-and-sandal epic “Troy” and gained his action spy movie cred with “Black Hawk Down” and “Munich.”

I would say Eric is a fantastic actor, but as is the Australian way, he seems a little bit of an underdog against people like Brad Pitt in Troy, wher Eric clearly outshone his big buck colleague. Unfortunately, it seems you American's believe your actors are the best. For some reason, Tom Cruise is a little generic, as is other top names.

Hi Guy's,
we heard that Ronan’s character would be an Eastern European girl trained to be a killer by her father, unknowingly at the behest of the CIA

I'm for new ideas to…..but at 14 years old, it sounds like this girl has lived 60 years. i'm curious how the timeline is going to work in this one.

I don't agree with you at all. I never knew Bana before April, 2008, when I saw Lucky You and said to myself, Who is this guy? He is so different from American actors and so talented. He is funny, a good interview, and willing to try any role -- his abilities go back to his roots as a
comedian - who wrote his own material for years. Check out his Love the Beast documentary that he made about his car aimed at families and wives and not racing car guys.
