Comic Book Resources scored a nine-page preview of "Nemesis," the new Mark Millar-created book.
Millar, for those of you who don't know, not only writes many of the top books for Marvel, his creator-owned books "Wanted" and now "Kick-Ass" have become ripe Hollywood fruit.
Will "Nemesis" be his latest cherry? The concept posits the question of what if a Batman-style man, hyper-intelligent, trained to be the best, was on the side of the bad guys not the good guys? Judging from the preview, which has no word balloons, "Nemesis" promises to be just as violent and nihilistic as his other work, if not more so (the cover sports the line "Makes Kick-Ass Look Like $#!t")
But the real question here is, will "Nemesis" be too dark for Hollywood? It's obviously too early to tell -- the book comes out next week. Hollywood thought that "Kick-Ass" was too edgy as well and now it's one of the most-buzzed about movies of the year, riding a wave of geek love out of Austin's SXSW festival.

The concept is fantastic in more ways than I can describe. Hope the actual execution will live up to the idea as I will be buying this for sure. And also a big thanks to Devindra for that shout-out on Deathnote, the first season was some of the finest anime I've seen in my very long history with the art-form (and yes motherfuckers, a lot of anime can classify as art!).

Clockwise from upper left (readers, thanks for providing correct names!): kuih apam, kuih kosui, kueh lapis, kuih seri muka (a cake of glutinous rice cooked with coconut milk, topped with a pandan layer), onde onde (Dave's fave - steamed pandan flavored glutinous rice flour balls with a semi-liquid filling of palm sugar, rolled in grated coconut), a "sandwich" of pulut tai tai (coconut and glutinous rice flour cakes that traditionally get their blue hue from a dye obtained from dried bunga telang, or butterfly pea flowers) with a kaya (rich coconut and egg "jam") filling, a coconuty kueh with a wrinkly "burnt" topping of palm sugar, and kueh talam (a layer of rice and green pea flour flavored with pandan topped with a layer of rice flour and coconut cream).
This was not a typical weekend, but I think it's pretty obvious that I am no longer master of my sweet tooth. I may require detox.
