Sigourney Weaver, who fought a monster queen in "Aliens," will now act as a vampire queen in "Vamps," a romantic horror-comedy from Amy Heckerling.
Written by Heckerling, the writer-director behind "Clueless" and "Look Who's Talking," the modern-day story focuses on beautiful young vampires (Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter) who are living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.
The UTA-repped Weaver, coming off of "Avatar," will play Ciccerus, the bloodthirsty vampire who turned the two ladies into creatures of the night.
A late April start is being eyed.
Red Hour is producing as well as Lauren Versel of Lucky Monkey Pictures and Molly Hassell. GK Films affiliate Parlay Films is handling foreign sales.

Why are all these dumb broads ruining vampire movies for real horror movie lovers? It seams they just take romance novels and rewrite the characters as vampires. If anybody else wants to cash in, and make easy money with gay vampires or vampire chick flicks? I'm sure you can find tons of trashy, old, smut books that have slipped into public domain.

Well, some movie fans are absolutely right, vampire movies are already too many, and some fans are fed up with them. but i think if it will be a good comedy (with good dialog, funny jokes, etc.) then even those who now hate all the vampire movies will like it! there are not so many good movies that combine humour and horror... and that's something new, don't you think so too?
being a sci-fy and fantasy writer (Tale Of The Rock Pieces) I'll never write for vampires, or of the kind of dragons and wizards the way fans imagine them, I think it's too common and most of the people are fed up with that.
