Hope they'll bring back Anthony Michael Hall and give him more to do....

This is the coolest thing I have ever heard

Batman 3 will be a box office disappointment...the "Heath Ledger" mystique is gone...all the irrationally exuberant band-wagoneers rubber-necking over HL's drug fueled death will have nothing to see here (thank goodness).

Tommyorlando, congratulations, your comment is the dumbest one I've read on the internet today.

Seconded.

Just saw his interview where he talks about the release date...

Then the motion passes and even his mother agrees; Tommyorlando is a dickhead

you guys need to read what tommy said again and think about it. he said BOX OFFICE flop, not a critical flop. imo the movie was good, not as good as everyone makes it out to be. sure heath ledger nailed his version of the joker, but i still think nicholson did better and there will never be a batman as good as michael keaton. bale has a tendency to overact as "batman" while his portrayal of bruce wayne is pretty spot on. jm2c

No one can best Mark Hamil for best portrayal of the Joker.

Even if The Dark Knight sequel makes half as much as The Dark Knight did, it definitely won't be considered a box office flop. Batman Begins made less than half of what The Dark Knight and it definitely wasn't a flop because it paved the way for The Dark Knight to be made.

I hope you're young because it'd be very foolish to think a Batman movie will flop, even Batman & Robin made over 100 million...

I have no clue how they're going to top The Dark Knight because Heath Ledger was phenomenal. His performance was what made The Dark Knight. I agree that if there isn't going to be Heath Ledger in the 3rd film then they need to get Johnny Depp to be in the film. His performances are phenomenal too. Also Rachel died and hope they have Catwoman in this film. Megan Fox can be Catwoman but I think Angelina Jolie can play the part perfecty. She snatched Salt from Tom Cruise all by herself for gods sakes. I think she can do Catwoman justice.

I really hope to see a new Joker just like this one i've found on youtube. This one seems to be really sick/mad/nut/crazy/blahblahblah...

He really would, but not if they made him a cheeseball like in the 60's series, or goofy looking like in Returns. Nolan could make him like a real crime boss (like what they did with Falcone), no makeup or prosthetic nose needed.

At first I thought Iron Man 2 would be as sweet as The Dark Knight but I was so shocked because it was even better... like it was more like the best sequel of all time Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. YES!!!

@ Jean-Paul Valley | April 30, 2010 at 02:06 PM

Jean-Paul, I read some more posts from you about batman 3 on the web, but you never seem to be a big proponent of Jean-Paul Valley (your namesake) as the main villain in part 3. Weird, cause bringing him on stage will probably work out best after Ledger's unbeatable performance in The Dark Knight.

How is all of this supposed to be adding up to 'one of the greater geek movie seasons?' Spiderman was just killed by the third movie (terrible, terrible flick.) There is hardly any way to revive that franchise in my opinion, and I really enjoyed the first two (also, I'm a Marvel girl.) The new Batman is going to be a huge letdown to everyone...if they really wanted to build up buzz, we'd know the cast by now, or at least some of the details.

And when you're really getting down to the 'geek' aspect of it all...how can you ignore the fact that trekkies were unhappy with the last Star Trek movie? For the genuine fans of many of these series...especially those who have followed them for years and are quite familiar with the canon of them, will shun most of what is being released this summer.

And another thing: How can anyone get excited about flicks based on graphic novels anymore after the horrendous letdown that was 'Watchmen'? Seriously. I know I have given up at this point.

"Warner Bros. has set July 20, 2012, as the release date..."

Well at least we'll get to see it before the world comes to an end.

The only reason the dark knight was any good was because of Heath Ledger. Seriously how many people were actually rooting for batman to come and the save the day?

Nolan sounds like he's really trying to take this installment in a different direction:
