Special effects maven-turned-helmer Patrick Tatopoulos is in negotiations to come aboard Participant Media’s eco-horror tale “The Colony.” Production begins in the fall.
Stacy Title and Jonathan Penner wrote the script, which was rewritten by David Lee Johnson. “Colony” revolves around a group of survivors forced underground by the next ice age. There, they must fight to preserve humanity against a savage threat.
Steven Schneider of Room 101 and Vertigo Entertainment’s Doug Davison and Roy Lee are producing, with Gabriel Mason executive producing. Participant executive vp production Jonathan King will oversee.
Summit is co-financing the film and will distribute in the U.S. It also is handling foreign-rights sales.
Last year, Tatopoulos helmed “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.” He also is responsible for the creature designs in such films as “I Am Legend,” “I, Robot” and the first two “Underworld” installments.
Tatopoulos, repped by ICM, also is attached to direct “I, Frankenstein,” which is in development at Lakeshore Entertainment.

However, it is a vampire movie! These kids today need to learn that twilight is just a teenager crap and an insult to the stories of vampires.

It seems that David Goyer has been overwhelmed by the superheroes. I mean first Batman and now Superman, but I would like to add is that he is best at this and would be interesting to see what twist does he have in his mind for Superman after an interesting one for Batman.

Notice that the Chinese know how to do a stimulus package, while no one in power seems to know how to do a stimulus package here in the US.
